There are more than 3,000 species of mosquitoes in the world, which is why many homeowners are looking for the best mosquito sprayer to protect themselves and their families.

In fact, the only countries and regions without mosquitoesare Iceland, Antarctica and a few small islands. So you’ll be hard-pressed trying to avoid them.

In this article we’ll break down the various types of mosquito sprayers, there applications, as well as when to spray, and what insecticide to spray with.

Our Overall #1 Rated Pick

By far the best in its category is theMakita 4-Gallon, 4-Stroke backpack sprayer.

Why?

It’s built like a tank and EXTREMELY easy to use for just about anybody (homeowners to commercial use).

The 4-stroke engine makes it super easy get started. No fuel mixing, just add gas, hit the primer a few times and it should start in just one pull for quick mosquito elimination.

It also has very little smell, low tone when idling, and comfortable with the extra padding in the straps.

From regular homeowners with mosquito/pest problems, to commercial users who need quality equipment for grounds keeping, you won’t be disappointed when using this unit.

The only drawback we’ll mention (aside from it being expensive) is that it is heavy weighing about 60ish pounds when full. The L-shape used in the construction tries to help lower your center of gravity and make the heavy weight more manageable.

Assuming you don’t wear it for more than a couple hours, the weight shouldn’t be much of an issue.

    Top 5 Best Mosquito Sprayers

When it comes to spraying for mosquitoes, you really want to grab a backpack sprayer for big yards. If you have a small piece of property then a pump might be more appropriate.

Of course, pumps are more uncomfortable and are more prone to spills and leakage, which is why you really want to get a decent one with tight gasket seals.

What Are The Types of Sprayers?

So, you’re in the market for some kind of device to spray chemicals around your house?

Great! The first thing we should cover are the two main types of sprayers (not to be confused with蚊子雾化器, which are different).

    Pump sprayers and Backpack sprayers…

Let’s have a look at each.

Pump Sprayers (Cheaper, but less durable)

Pump sprayers tend to be smaller, made of plastic, and come with a max capacity of no more than 2-gallons for your chemical mixture.

They’ll come with a wand and nozzle so that you can disburse your chemical around easily.

They work by pumping the handle to build pressure in the unit, which then allows you to force the chemical through the wand up to 10ft for some setups.

The thing about pump sprayers is that they are prone to defects and breaking down fairly quickly.

They need to hold lots of pressure and contain the chemical in the unit without spilling. This requires lots of seals and gaskets that can all fail.

Those pieces in the pumps are usually made with some form of plastic to keep the cost down of the unit down, which ultimately results in a shorter life span and an additional trip to the store for you.

Something else… pumps tend to be WAY less efficient when disbursing the chemicals around your home as well. A spray job that might take 3 gallons of insecticide, would take 8-10 gallons in a pump sprayer.

This is because of the way wands are built and the distance each spray can go. For example, a good pump sprayer can reach distances up to 10ft where a backpack engine powered sprayer can reach 30ft!

For small operations and minimal use, pumps will get the job done, but more more long term reliability, we do recommend durable backpack sprayers.

Backpack Sprayers (Expensive, but more effective)

Backpack sprayers are more expensive, but are also more durable and can be used by a number of different professionals outside of pest control (e.g., landscapers, groundskeepers, farmers, etc).

Most backpacks are gas powered blowers designed to disburse liquid chemicals for long periods of time.

    Do Mosquito Sprayers Actually Work?

Amosquito sprayer is one of the best tools for mosquito controland can be quite effective in reducing mosquito count in certain areas.

Sprayers, if used correctly, can dramatically reduce mosquito populations in certain areas. In some cases, consistent application of mosquito spraycan eliminate certain mosquito species in an area altogether.

Although mosquito sprays can be quite effective, you may need to use combination of various mosquito control tools and techniques (e.g., to effectively control or eliminate mosquitoes in an area, especially if the mosquito population in the area is high.

What Are The Main Tools Used To Kill Mosquitoes?

When figuring out your mosquito problem, you have three main options sprays, foggers, or repellents.

    • Sprays are generally the most effectivebecause the solution lingers sticking to leaves and shrubbery with some sprays maintaining effectiveness for up to 30 days.
    • Foggersare great for those hard-to-reach spots, but often lack the staying power of sprays. Foggers create micro sized droplets that can penetrate even the tiniest crack or crevice. But once your done fogging, there is no residual chemical left to defend against mosquitoes.
    • Repellents are usually just to keep bugs away.
